Armando Méndez arrives at Newell's, free from Nacional

Uruguayan defender Armando Méndez was announced this Friday as Newell’s Old Boys’ first signing for this season.

Méndez signed a three-year contract after playing for his country’s Nacional.

“Newell’s added its first incorporation for the 2022 season of the Professional League. It is Armando Méndez, a 25-year-old right back who will arrive to strengthen the red-black defensive sector and raise the level of internal competition in the squad led by Javier Sanguinetti”reported La Lepra on its website.

This is the third club for Méndez, who also played on loan for the Uruguayan Fénix.

The right-back signed a contract until December 31, 2024, revealed the Rosario club.

Newell’s highlighted the “power” and “physical display” that his new addition has, “both on the defensive and offensive sides.”
