Despite not competing since September 2021 (she fell in the third round of the US Open), the local tennis player returned to the circuit with splendid tennis and forcefully dispatched the Kazakh to win the tournament trophy for the second time in his career: in 2020, she beat Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska in straight sets in the final.

In the first round he beat Coco gauff in three sets; then defeated the 2020 Australian Open champion, Sofia Kenin, while in the semifinals she eliminated another Major champion, as is the case with Iga Swiatek (2020 Roland Garros champion).

His imminent goal will be to raise performance in the Australian Open next week (his best performance was in 2020, when he reached the semifinal) and lift the trophy before his people at the legendary Rod Laver Arena.
