(EFE) — A goal by Colombian Luis Muriel, signed two minutes from time by Danish Joakim Maelhe, gave Atalanta a 2-0 win against Venezia on Wednesday and handed them the ticket to the Italian Cup quarterfinals.
Muriel, who has four goals in Serie A, scored his third goal in three days, since last Sunday he scored a brace in the league match against Udinese.
The forward from Santo Tomás broke the equality with a good goal, including a dribble in the area, at 12 minutes, although with controversy, since his action began with a control between his chest and an arm.
The VAR decided not to intervene and the referee awarded the 1-0 to an Atalanta who sentenced the match in the 88th minute on a counterattack thanks to Maelhe.
In the next round, Atalanta, finalists last year, will face the winner of Fiorentina-Napoli.
