Murray's second win in a row in Sydney

The Scotsman Andy Murray prevailed in a tremendous fight against the Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili (second seed of the tournament) 6-7 (4), 7-6 (3) and 6-3 in the second round of the Sydney International tournament.

“I would like to have done it faster but I am happy to have served well until the end”, he explained after the conclusion of a meeting that lasted more than three hours.

The 34-year-old Briton improved his first serve success by 30% during the third set, an aspect that gave him peace of mind from a return with which he intimidated the Georgian’s serve in his first chance of the third set.

His next rival in the quarterfinals will be the Belgian David Goffin (8), with whom he maintains a resounding favorable face-to-face 6-0.

“He had a tough year with injuries and he’s on his way back too. It’s not going to be an easy match”, he commented on the Belgian.

Murray continues with options in his last test before playing the Australian Open with the invitation he received from the organization.
