Diego Polenta will play in Unión de Santa Fe

Unión de Santa Fe announced this Thursday the incorporation of Uruguayan defender Diego Polenta, who will be led by his compatriot Gustavo Munúa. Tatengue will be the sixth team in the 29-year-old footballer’s career.

In 2021, Polenta played for Olimpia in Paraguay until the end of August when he joined Nacional, a club with which he played 14 of the 15 matches of the Closing Tournament of the Uruguayan Championship.

The defender was trained in Danubio and at the age of 16 he was signed by Genoa from Italy. In 2011 he moved to Bari and three years later he joined Nacional, with whom he won two Uruguayan Championships (2014-2015 and 2016), two Intermediate Tournaments (2017 and 2018), and two Apertura (2014 and 2018).

After his successful time in the Bag, Polenta played in 2019 in the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS, where, for example, he shared a team with the Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic. In 2020 he joined Olimpia, where he won the Paraguayan Clausura 2020, and then had his second cycle in Nacional.

The left-handed defender, who stands out for his technique and driving, has already worked with Munúa, who was his teammate at Nacional in the 2014/2015 season and his coach at the Bolsa in 2015/2016.
