Blumenau: three Argentines qualified for the semifinals

Argentine tennis players Bautista Torres, Juan Pablo Paz and Genaro Olivieri qualified today for the semifinals of the Blumenau Challenger, played in Brazil, by winning their respective quarterfinal matches.

First of all, Olivieri (309th) beat his compatriot Facundo Juárez (379th) 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-4 to qualify for this instance for the third time in this type of tournament. For a place in the final, the native of Buenos Aires will face the local Igor Marcondes (326th), who beat the American Nicolás Moreno de Alboran (348th) 4-6, 7-6 (6) and 7-6 (4 ).

For its part, Bautista Torres (473rd) defeated Facundo Díaz Acosta (303rd) 6-4, 6-4 to get into his first semifinal at the Challenger level. In addition, with this result, he made sure to be top 425 in the ATP ranking.

In the next instance, the 2002 category tennis player will face his compatriot Juan Pablo Paz (437th), who defeated Gonzalo Villanueva (419th) 6-3 and 6-4 and for the second time in his career entered the top four of this type of tournament.
