The ATP 500 in Rotterdam will take place without an audience

The ATP 500 in Rotterdam will be played without an audience during the 2022 edition, due to the increase in coronavirus cases due to the Omicron variant in the Netherlands.

“It is a big disappointment. For the players, for us, but above all for the fans. For the second year in a row we have a fantastic line up, with no audience present live, due to the measures that are currently being taken,” said tournament director Richard Krajicek.

For her part, Jolanda Jansen, CEO of Rotterdam Ahoy stated: “Even if it is partially allowed at the last minute, we would not be able to offer the event that visitors are used to.”

It is worth mentioning that the event will feature the presence of great figures from the male professional circuit such as Daniil Medvedev (2nd), Stefanos Tsitsipas (4th), Andrey Rublev (5th), Felix Auger-Aliassime (9th) and Hubert Hurkacz (10th).
